InnovaTAC Pouch Insert for Glock is a product that transforms a rifle magazine pouch to a actually reliable and fast pistol holster. In specific situations the insert can be a really good option compared to a dedicated pistol holster, giving a lot of flexibility to your kit. And also the pistol can be very well protected against the elements, when a a full flap pouch is used. The insert significantly improves draw speed and draw reliability compared to just carrying the pistol in a rifle magazine pouch. Also the speed and ease of re-holstering is significantly improved. All handling and holstering the weapon can be done more safely and is comparable to very high quality modern pistol holsters. Function of the retention is very simple and is not based on any mechanism that is vulnerable for malfunctioning due to ice, sand, etc.
Insert fits a Glock 17 or same sized Glock with with a shorter slide (for example a Glock 19). Attachment is very easy can be done even when wearing your kit. The insert will hook on to the magazine pouch opening and high strength elastic cord is placed below and behind the magazine pouch. Please see video how to attach the insert:
Attachment:
– check that no parts on the insert or the elastic cord are loose or broken
– adjust preferred pistol retention tension with a flat head screwdriver
– lid of the pouch can be tucked inside the pouch or remain over the pistol
– place the insert inside the pouch so that the insert hooks catch over the sides of the pouch
– place the elastic cord below and behind the magazine pouch
– for extra security, the elastic cord can be placed under the PALS straps
Insert is compatible with following pouch types:
– multicaliber single magazine pouches (with or without stretch that compresses the pouch)
– loose single AR magazine pouches (with or without stretch that compresses the pouch)
– multicaliber double magazine pouches (preferably with stretch that compresses the pouch)
– double AR magazine pouches (preferably with stretch that compresses the pouch)
– AK and other wide magazine pouches (with or without stretch that compresses the pouch)
– double AK and other wide magazine pouches (preferably with stretch that compresses the pouch)
Not compatible with:
– taco-pouches with large plastic side reinforcements
– AR magazine pouches that are tight and do not have stretch
– insert will not work as standalone holster, it requires a pouch
The insert is compatible with most traditional rifle magazine pouches. The purpose built construction only adds 1 mm of thickness on the sides of the pistol and on the trigger guard. However the front sight channel necessarily adds a few more millimeters on top of the slide (front sight height of the pistol should be less than 6 mm). But as a general rule, if the magazine pouch has a loose fit on the pistol, it is most likely compatible with the insert.
