COMPS is a magazine spring family engineered for competition shotguns.
COMPS telescopic magazine spring is designed to fit most available telescopic tubes. The geometry of the spring will reduce tube sticking and maximize the telescopic capacity.
Depending on the original setup, total capacity increase up to 5% can be achieved with optimal COMPS spring combination. What this means is that you could be able to fit that one extra shell without sacrificing reliability. Or use longer springs for added reliability for your magazine system. This spring will allow you to tune your telescopic system for function and capacity. And also be a high quality general spare spring for all systems.
Recommendation is to use a spring setup, that will start the telescopic expansion when the inner tube is 100% full (typically 10 shells). Using this recommendation will keep the telescopic system from expanding unnecessarily, keep it short and keep it clean as possible. Minimum recommended setup is when telescopic expansion starts at 90% full (typically 9 shells).
Note: the spring is most likely tighter fit during assembly than the orginal spring. This is OK, and it is designed that way. The diameter and clearance of the spring increases when compressed.
Specifications:
- Length 760mm
- High quality steel spring wire
- Fits all known telescopic tubes (inner tube diameter up to 26mm)
Instructions:
- Always use eye protection when working with loaded springs!
- Remove any color/power markers or packaging material from the spring
- Round the ends of the spring wire to avoid any scraping of the tube internals
- Assemble spring to the magazine tube and fully compress it 4-5 times
- Spring will take some set and shorten approx 10mm
- Measure the length of the preloaded spring = L (the length of the space where the telescopic spring is compressed when the tube is assembled)
- Cut the spring to preferred length
-
- You can always leave the spring longer than recommended, this will add reliability and delay the telescopic expansion
- Reducing the length will add capacity, but advance the telescopic expansion
- Recommended length with LIGHT internal spring 2.0*L (expansion when full internal tube)
- Minimum recommended length with LIGHT internal spring 1.8*L (expansion at ~90% internal tube)
- Recommended length with MEDIUM internal spring 2.3*L (expansion when full internal tube)
- Minimum recommended length with MEDIUM internal spring 2.1*L (expansion at ~90% internal tube)
-
- Round the ends of the spring wire to avoid any scraping of the tube internals
- Bend the cut wire end a little towards inside of the spring, if required for assembly
- Assemble cut end towards muzzle
- Check for smooth function and make sure your magazine tube and follower are clean and smooth
- Always test the functionality of your setup in training
- Ready to rock&roll
